Retrying and cancelling a failed payment in New Ledger

Retrying a Failed Payment

In TJ Ops, if a payment entry is in Failed status, the Ops user can retry the payment either using the default payment method or an existing alternate payment method.

Retrying a payment changes the payment status from Failed to Processing. Based on the response from the payment provider, the status then updates to Completed or remains Failed.

The steps to retry a failed payment are as follows:

  1. Click on the Payments Module from the left navigation panel.
  2. Locate the payment entry with a Failed status that you want to retry.
  3. Click the Action button next to the payment entry.
  4. Select Retry from the dropdown.
  5. In the Retry Failed Payment modal, select either the default payment method or an existing alternate payment method, from the Payment Method dropdown.
  6. Click Retry Payment.

If a retry cannot be completed or the payment method is invalid, the Ops user can cancel the failed payment. This is covered in the next section.

Cancelling a Failed Payment

When a payment entry is in Failed status, it can be cancelled to stop the system from attempting further payment retries. Ops users can use this option when a customer's card continues to be declined or when a customer does not pay on time.

When a payment entry is cancelled, the payment status updates from Failed to Cancelled.

Although the payment is cancelled, the corresponding bill entry is still valid and Unpaid. In such cases, Ops user will have to manually collect the payment and record it as an Offline Payment against this bill.

The steps to cancel a failed payment are as follows:

  1. Click on the Payments Module from the left navigation panel.
  2. Locate the payment entry with a Failed status that you want to cancel.
  3. Click the Action button next to the payment entry.
  4. Select Cancel from the dropdown.
  5. Click on Confirm on the Cancel Payment modal.

Cancelling a failed payment does not cancel the associated bill.
